A stunning Windwise experience
The Hang Out Bar down at the beach next to Jibe City windsurfing centre has a great vibe for sun lounger chilling out, watching the windsurfing world, sipping cocktails and sampling fabulous food.
In the evenings you can choose to do your own thing, but we plan loads of Windwise socials, adventures, truly fabulous restaurants, BBQ’s, cook offs and other island experiences. Families of 3 or more will need to hire their own vehicle.

It has a very safe, mix of Caribbean-European vibe and the heavy Dutch influence means that it’s pretty organized, efficient and well presented feel about it.
The food, the place and the atmosphere are so easy and laid back.

You’ll spend the whole day at the beach, windsurfing and chilling.
As the day closes, you’ll head back to your hotel, to get showered, relax, enjoy a BBQ or head out for a meal.
Expect Ridley Scott style sunsets and an abundance of delicious places to eat and experience..
For our March sessions, we base ourselves at the Sonrisa Hotel which is just on the edge of Kralendijk. It’s a 10 minute stroll into town for eating out and a island style 15 min truck ride to the best windsurfing ever!
Whilst we eat out often, they also do special dinners for us, which are perfect for video debrief and when you’re just too tired to move from a full day on the water.
The Sonrisa is run by a lovely Swiss couple and they’re very welcoming to Team Windwise during our stay.
It’s super convenient to places to eat and local shops and supermarkets. It’s nicely done out, recently refurbished and works really well as our Windwise base.
For our April session we offer a lower budget Ocean View Villas which are good value individually styled self catering apartments in one big villa which is 200m from a swimming spot and sunset views.
Situated 2km out of town and 5km to the windsurfing area, we use this as a base for our April sessions. Families of 3 or more will need to hire their own vehicle.
Ocean View Villas act as a really nice base and are at the end of a completely straight 5km road to the windsurfing area.
Each room has a lounge and kitchenette and they are ideal for individuals, couples, families and those on a budget wanting to do their own breakfasts etc.
We also offer an upgrade to the Bloozz Apartments which are a new development that we’ve been using. They are next to Ocean View Villas but offer a slightly more upgraded accommodation. Families of 3 or more will need to hire their own vehicle.

Bloozz Apartments has a very modern feel with contemporary rooms, large swimming pool, views over the sea and an onsite dive centre, restaurant bar and chill out areas.
Each room has a kitchenette and they are ideal for individuals, couples, families and those on a budget wanting to do their own breakfasts etc.

Shallow easy windsurfing
Straight off from the Jibe City beach is a wonderfully inviting flat-water lagoon stretching as far as you can see.
It’s protected by a distant reef so never gets any waves, making it perfect for our Windwise Skills Training, perfecting those gybes and much more.
You can walk everywhere! Energy saving and a super easy place too sail.
Try run after run and gybe after gybe!
We base ourselves at Jibe City, where they carry a wide range of Fanatic/Duotone and Severne kit. They really welcome us and there’s loads of up to date boards and sails available for us to use.
It’s a great Windwise base and it’s possible to try and change gear to suit your level, the wind conditions and your progression.
It’s only a masts length from Jibe City and you can feast on light snacks, seafood lunches, invigorating smoothies and carve-inducing coffees.
Then after a day at the Windwise office, there’s always time for post-sail Mojito or Bonaire Blonde to celebrate yet more gybes.
We also use Sebastian’s on the beach (50m from Jibe City for their carb-loading Italian pastas and healthy Poke bowls.
They also have some banging tunes on special nights too.

It is compulsory to have third-party and personal insurance for the duration of the course, covering injury to self and others.
Travel insurance is also recommended to cover any possible issues that may arise.

Run by our trained Windwise coaches, they can assist you through the beginning and early stages of the sport using proven Windwise windsurfing coaching techniques to speed up your learning curve. We have 1 to 2 day windsurfing courses and our very popular overseas windsurfing holidays.
Introducing, explaining and building the essential windsurfing skills using the Windwise coaching system.
Simon Bornhoft we’ll help you develop and improve all areas of your windsurfing. Quick beach and waterstarts, relaxed stances, quality control, the earliest of planing, controlled harnessing and blasting in the straps, better upwind sailing, quicker tacking and learning how to gybe.
Want to break that plateau, extend your wind range, increase speed and consistency in those gybes and learn other achievable short board skills and moves? Then this is the course for you.
Simon Bornhoft will guide you through sailing smaller boards, tacking in stronger winds/lower volume boards, cranking up those carve gybes, control-jumping over chop, or having some fun with optional feasible freestyle like flat water wave riding, duck gybes, helitacks, up and downwind 360’s etc.
If you’re looking to get into waves or develop existing wave sailing skills you wave then our Freewave & Wave courses are the perfect environment to take you to the next level – which is far more accessible than you might think.
We run through high wind control, sailing sub 100L boards, uphauling, tacking and hovering on semi submerged boards.

If you’re new to the sport or you’re looking to lock down the real basics, these courses are perfect for you. Run by our trained WINDWISE coaches, they can assist you through the beginning and early stages of the sport using proven WINDWISE windsurfing coaching techniques to speed up your learning curve. We have 1-2 day windsurfing courses and our very popular overseas windsurfing holidays.
Booking conditions
Windwise will do their best to ensure your safety and enjoyment on the water. There will be times when you’re being coached individually and in a group. There will also be times when you are freesailng by yourself, just like a regular windsurfing holiday-resort.
Windsurfing is, potentially, a dangerous sport and you must agree to sail in a responsible manner and in the designated areas outlined to you in resort.
In the event that Simon Bornhoft is not able to make the clinic/holiday or course due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, your Windwise booking and holiday are still valid and the course/holiday/adventure will still go ahead and another Windwise coach will be provided for you.
Being a small operation we have to pre-pay hotels and centres to get rates, plus there are associated costs for putting these courses on overseas.
So if for any unforeseen reason you’re unable to attend the clinic or experience holiday cancellation, airline cancellation, personal health issues, injury or any other personal reason or unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from joining the course, you will still be required to pay for your holiday. You can transfer your place to another person, but if you need to cancel and cannot find a replacement we will offer compensation under the following guidelines.
