Alacati offers easy, safe, flat water windsurfing windsurfing, with great nights out at local restaurants, bars and some secret WINDWISE adventures not to be missed.

Who's it for?
Alacati is a fabulously easy Freeride paradise for beginners, improvers & intermediates. Our sessions in June are designed to give improvers-intermediates all the support and training they need to sort out the essential windsurfing skills. So if you're looking to move down onto smaller boards, improve your stance, harnessing, footstraps, blasting control and make faster tacks, non-planing and planing gybes or just get more comfortable on a board, these weeks are perfect for you. In Alacati Simon Bornhoft takes a WINDWISE coach with him to assist with some of the lower level windsurfers, so you'll get plenty of support during the difficult stages of the sport.
Course & Holiday Content
The first week is aimed at those at the improver-intermediate level seeking to develop, stance, early planing, straps, harness, tacks, beach starts, waterstarts, gybes and all the skills to move your windsurfing on to the next level. We also have a beginner and senior group.
The second week is for intermediates who can waterstart and are looking to develop, stance, blasting control, early planing, fast tacks, gybe variations and all the skills to break that blast back and forth plateau.
On both weeks, we run through skills training in the mornings and planing skills in the afternoons, plus of course we add in some Alacati bay crossings and our infamous 'Upwind Downwinder' to the top of the bay!
Other Holiday Highlights
Alongside our dedicated coaching, we like to create a truly great holiday, so we offer optional group trips to local restaurants, bars and special places. Alacati town is a lively and quaint turkish town with loads of unique small boutique shops and incredibly good value meals and great socials. Plus we've often checkout the local Hamam, Go-Karting, island boat trip, beach BBQ's and a special secret sunset dinner. You can take the trip at whatever pace suits you and there is always something to do! It's also one of the better venues to take non-windsurfing partners.
Kit & Conditions
Flat, shallow, crystal clear blue water, Alacati is an easy and very safe place to windsurf. The launch area has no shore break and you are immediately into a huge shallow windsurfing area - allowing you the luxury of being able to stand 200 metres out from the shore. So resting and practising all those skills is very easy.
We don't like wind stats, because it's so easy for centres to be romantic with the truth. But we've been going in June for over 12 years where the wind has proved to be just as good as in July/August, but the water is less crowded. The predominant Meltemi wind blows port tack (left to right across the beach). It's usually lighter in the morning and builds in the afternoon. Our experiences of the place have been pretty good for wind. A week at that time of year, you should expect to get a variety of planing conditions, perfect for training, blasting and learning to gybe and develop your windsurfing.
Boards between 100-130L

Travel & Ileri Hotel
There are other options, but I'd recommend the Ileri Hotel. A very friendly, clean, family run hotel that is situated in Ilica (pronounced 'ill e cha'). It's owned by 'Murat' who also runs the beach café next to Club Mistral. Murat, his family and his very loyal staff are superbly welcoming to WINDWISE clients and Murat knows some mean bar tricks (you've been warned). The Ileri has a hot Turkish Bath and friendly bar and reception staff, who have worked there for many years. The advantage of being in the Ileri Hotel, is that we are right near some great restaurants and close to Alacati town, so it makes for a more social atmosphere in the evenings. It's better value and is a superb base for heading into Alacati town at night. We have our own 10-15 minute transfer to the beach each morning.
