The Lagoon
Straight off the beach is a shallow flat-water lagoon, which is perfect for skills training, blasting, gybe practice and safe easy ‘flat-water wave riding’ practice.
Then, there’s optional waves of varying size (swell dependant of course) for those who want to learn or enhance their Freewave / Wave skills.

Tell me about the waves
Waves range in size depending on the swell forecast.
We go in October, because the balance of wind and waves is about as good as you can get in Mauritius.
We’ve been coming here for 12 years,which says it all.
Effectively, when the swell is working, you can choose between small, medium or larger waves if you venture onto the outer reefs.
What about rescue?
We use ION centre which has rescue cover for those who sail within the designated area.

We named this small reform break inside the lagoon.
It’s a super gentle wave for your first ride be that on a WindSUP or short board, in total safety of the lagoon.

On the outer edge of the lagoon ‘Small Reef’ is great for jumping and an introduction to down-the-line wave skills.
Plus there’s an upwind channel to get out through the break without having to go through white-water.

Despite it’s size and social media status, ‘Manawa’ is actually a very accessible wave.
Whether you sit off the shoulder to avoid the breaking white water or get deeper into the section, you’ll ride a wave bigger than you ever thought possible. Plus,there’s a channel to get out so no punching through breaking white-water.

Famous around the world, ‘One Eye’ travels with the length and speed of a runaway train, wrapping perfectly around a distant arching and incredibly shallow reef.
This is for experts only and no rental kit, but you can take a look from a distance!

You can relax, safe in the knowledge that you’ve covered everything and focus on enjoying the warm waters, waves and flat lagoon.
It’s possible to arrange different flights and transfers, but these are the suggested dates and flights to match the group transfers.

Dietary & health needs
Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements or health issues we need to know about.
Payments and Balances
- Please complete the form and enter details into all necessary fields including names of all persons attending be they windsurfers or non-windsurfers, family or friends. You can add any medical details, allergies or questions in the comments box at the next stage.
- You can secure your place with a 50% deposit of your total holiday price.
- The balance will be due 12 weeks in advance of departure.
- When booking within 12 weeks of departure a full balance is payable.
- You must have holiday insurance including 3rd party windsurfing cover when attending the course.
Be aware
- Windwise will do its best to ensure your safety and enjoyment on the water.
- There will be times when you’re being coached individually, in a group or free sailing. Plus there are times when you’re free sailing.
- You are required to sail responsibly, within the designated areas and keep to the internationally recognised sailing and windsurfing rules of the sea.
- If for any reason, Simon Bornhoft is unable to attend, your Windwise course and holiday will go ahead with an alternative Windwise coach.
- Any dispute before, during or after the holiday will be held under UK law in the UK.
