WINDSURFING GOLD
As part of our Windwise weeks, we like to recognise everyone’s effort, enthusiasm and progression. However, you often get a stand out performance where everyone in the group see’s the super extra time + effort that some people put into their ‘time on the water’. Or equally if someone is overcoming a particular challenge, set back, illness or injury – basically lest celebrate those who push through that little bit more.
It could be most improved, genuine grit or winning against adversity – each one is well deserved! Here’s a star collection of Sailors Of The Week(s) from our recent trip to Bonaire.

Well done, Isla, Trond, Richard, Jerry, Ana, Kasia and the kids too - you're all worthy winners of all the plaudits and a limited edition Windwise hat!

ISLA REYNOLDS
Carving Queen Week 1
First up, the ever smiley and supportive Isla Reynolds, who work so hard and like Kirsten Jahn & Carol Irvine showed that the WiseWomen have got those Warrior Tacks, gybes, early planing and Rig@90’s sorted! Well done Isla great sailing!

RICHARD HENDERSON
In week two, Richard Henderson, who has sailed for years and was stuck on a plateau and as his ‘caddy’ Mark claimed, he was a ‘reluctant learner’. He’d steered away from even attempting step gybes, barely bothered to tack and said his habits were too ingrained.
However, once he engaged with the Skills & Drills suddenly he was making short board Warrior tacks and also started the transition from Strap-2-Strap gybes to the new word of Step Gybes – WELL DONE Richard!

Powering Through Parkinson’s
Windsurfing can be a tough sport to master but when you have Parkinson’s to contend with as well, it’s full respect just getting on the water! A true testament to Jerry Collyer’s incredible persistence, character, and determination, he’s out there sailing a 95-105L Dyno, making progress, and nailing gybes too!
World Parkinson’s Day
We promoted this special day with a true Windwise Warrior proving what humans are capable of even in the face of adversity. Totally inspiring!
Come and see what you can achieve on our next Bonaire Freeride Experiences.
TROND ALVESTAD
Trond Alvestad was voted to have made fabulous progress with noticeable differences in his blasting style and turning “just getting round” into many planing exits (sadly when the camera wasn’t there! But everyone saw them, so they definitely counted!
It can be really tricky to improve consistency and get that elusive planing exit — so well done Trond – Welcome to the CarveClub!
Those Rig@90’s Skills & Drills really paid off!

Plodding To Planing
It began with stop-start, on-off planing runs in the harness on 120-130L boards. Lacking some confidence and a touch shy of control – so work to be done….
PURE PROGRESS
Then came faster runs on the Verso 122. Finishing the week with flat out ‘low’ blasting on 85-95-105L Dyno boards in both straps and trying gybes too!
Come and join us for our next Bonaire Freeride Experience.
FOLLOW THE SYSTEM
With some dedicated effort and a real willingness to ‘just give it a go’ this is what they achieved…
