BonaiRE BLASTERS
Our Bonaire Windwise ‘Sailors Of The Week’ for Clinic four goes to Adrian, Aaron + ELLA!
What a wicked and wise week we had! Great to have so many youthful windsurfers in the group – Windsurfing is going strong. As ever, we had a week of dedicated, determined and speedy learners – well done everyone!
Check out the full story of the rest of Bonaire Week 4 HERE
But now we have our stand out acknowledgements for that extra determination, achievement or just finally breaking through a big barrier goes to…..
Aaron Goodman: Our young sailor award who went from a 220L beginner board to a 110L Verso!
Adrian Hall: From “some ragged weaving about” to being a member of the short board blasting club!
Our Top ‘SOTW’ award went to…
‘Queen Of The Bay’ Ella McLellan. A super determined Scott who overcame ‘too much sun’, mastered shorter boards and made many gybes, footstrap waterstarts and sailed until she dropped, not just physically, but also in board size!
Well done to the whole crew and congrats to Aaron, Adrian & Ella

WINDSURFING PROGRESSION
SAILOR OF THE WEEK
Ella McLellan
She was an improver, now she’s an Intermediate Freerider with greatly improved ‘7’ stance overall control. Plus better rig handling fully planing in harness and both straps.
Along with her sister Lara, Ella, moved onto shorter boards, faster speeds, executive beach starts and footstrap waterstarts.
“I went down from 138L to 110L board! I feel much more comfortable in the straps and confident with my gybing”
These were some of Ella’s achievements…
Improve blasting 7 stance
More confident gybes
Fully sheeting in, staying lower and blasting
- Low ‘executive beach start’ planing exit
- Rig@90 Beachstarts
Post Verso 110L blast..."That felt so good!"
SAILOR OF THE WEEK
Adrian Hall
He ‘was’ an improver, now a Freeriding intermediate. Greatly improved ‘7’ stance range and huge reduction in catapults! All made possible by nailing footstrap waterstarts, that lead to shorter board blasting in both straps at speed – on 122L boards.
Great work Adrian!
”Best windsurfing I’ve ever had – so pleased”

‘I feel like a windsurfer’
YOUNG SAILOR OF THE WEEK
Aaron Goodman
Wow! Aaron started on a 220L beginner board, often drifting downwind, not even thinking of harness or straps. But he fought, battled and really ‘followed the system’ and made so much effort.
Then came the breakthrough – Harness, straps and planing. Shorter boards, Verso 154L-138L-122 and finally Verso 110 in the harness and straps planing! Such a great amount of progression in 5 days!
Be careful what you wish for Jason Goodman (Proud dad) – I don’t think you’ll be keeping up any more!

"FOLLOW THE SYSTEM"
With some dedicated effort and a real willingness to ‘just give it a go’ and “trust the system” it’s amazing what you can achieve.
