Flat water on the inside creates a gybertorium to develop your skills on super easy smooth water.
On the outside there is gentle rolling swell that's fun and easy to sail on. We love Marsa Alam becuase it's uncrowded and suits our skills training perfectly and we get lots of progress and feel like it's our own private centre!

The course is our popular skill busting Freeride course which focuses on developing core windsurfing skills to enhance all areas of short board windsurfing. Faster tacks, gybes, waterstarts, planing, stance, fun new skills and any other funky freeride moves you're trying to learn. Plus we'll teach you how to fall in less!

Here’s some recent feedback from Marsa Alam!

"Great week, achieved everything that I set out to do in good company and a great location. Will definitely be doing another course in the near future. Not hard to see why so many people come back for more. Had I done this before I could have saved many a fall in the gybe. There must be a way of calculating the time spent on the course as a ratio of time saved by not falling in so often. Call it The Bornhoft Quantum."   Many thanks and see you again soon. Cheers, Steve Grant

"Although Simon hasn’t yet found a way to guarantee the wind he always knows how to use what wind we have to work on improving the skills we need when it is windy!  I wanted to sort my downwind 360’s out but with only one 5m day I worked on my upwind 360 in the light wind, improved my tacks and heli’s etc.  Lots to work on next time it’s windy in the UK!  Great location, hotel, windsurf centre and staff, would love to come back soon.  My wife also had a nice relaxing time enjoying the warmer weather, relaxing atmosphere and uncrowded hotel/beach." Roy Steel

"Muchas gracias Simon por una semana increible!
I thoroughly enjoyed this week. The spot is perfect for training. The hotel has everything one needs for a week like this. The people at the club are the most helpful and friendly team I’ve met at a surfclub yet. And they play Ben Harper! I really did not have much of an idea about what to expect from the clinic. You’re way of coaching really hits the spot, breaks it down to the essence, and you’re a natural at getting the point across. I feel I’ve improved massively and take away loads of ideas and skills on which to improve. Hope to be able to join another clinic further up!! Un abrazo!" Henk

"What a week, packed full of learning from a god of a coach.  If you like learning using a step by step process Simon nails it.  I never knew light wind windsurfing was such fun. . I can’t wait to put it in to practice back home. The crew at the mistral centre were also so helpful. The group were great fun and the hotel perfect for the wind surfing crowd. Then there was this excellent Italian restaurant, a total surprise and a real treat. Simon, awesome week. Look forward to seeing you in April at Hayling."

Quote of the week “It’s never to late to be the person you thought you might be”

"First time in Egypt and in love with Marsa Alam, the hotel is clean and comfortable but more importantly the centre is truly exceptional. The spot takes a few days to get your head around but once it all made sense it really is a great sailing location. Simon is consistently brilliant, his explanations of the components of each move are clear and logical whether he is going through it with you for the first time or the hundreth. His real skill, however, is how he manages to engage every single person on his course regardless of their level and their commitment to ensure everyone progresses further than they would have thought possible. Thank you again for all your help."  Steven

"Second time here in Marsa Alam and I had another truly wonderful time made even better by the consistent planning wind conditions the efficiency of the club Mistral staff, the comfortable and clean hotel and of course the master of patience Mr Bornhoft."

Weather:  Wall to wall sunshine and 5.5 days good wind out of 7! Hotel:  Best Egyptian hotel I’ve stayed in. Club Mistral:  The best!  Great crew.  When I was in trouble, the boat was on its way within 2 minutes of my distress signal. SB Windwise:  Usual fantastic coaching with patience, good humour and, ultimately, great results Lessons learned:  LOOK, LEAN, LEVER!  KEEP LOW! All the best,  Bruce Cotsell

"My first time in Marsa Alam, and I doubt that it will be the last. The centre is very well run and the boards which I used were almost new (although I wasn’t keen on the sails – they felt heavy, and it would have been nicer if they’d been on skinny masts and smaller diameter booms). The weather was excellent; warm and windy – planing conditions every day if you were prepared to use big kit, and a couple of fantastic days when the smaller boards and sails came into their own. The hotel also is very well run; the rooms were clean, there’s plenty of hot water, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The food was adequate rather than brilliant, but there was plenty of it and I had no digestive problems (unlike previous visits to Egypt). Simon’s coaching was as good as ever; my tacking has improved and he’s given me lots to work on when I get home. All in all, a fantastic holiday and I look forward to returning next year." Graeme Burton

"My first trip overseas with Windwise and a cracker! The centre is well run and the whole team so very helpful and friendly. The whole place works well and lets you relax and concentrate on those moves. I came over here unable to turn a short board around and whilst the carve gybe is still an aspiration, I am closer than I have ever been and have the basics nailed. The blasting & waterstarts are so much better as well! I Simon’s approach to coaching is really tuned to the individual and for me, breaking the move down to its components really helps me understand it. The video doesn’t lie either! The hotel, hire centre and tuition really come together to make a fun and instructive holiday with a good atmosphere among all the Windwise crew. Coming gain? You bet!" Richard
