EXTRA COURSE FILLING UP FAST - CONTACT WINDWISE ASAP!
After a successful visit in 2009, Simon Bornhoft returns to El Tur to run one of his Windwise Freewave courses. Loving the flat-water wave combo, SB focuses not just on mastering those gybes and refining your existing short board technique, but all aspects of high wind control, fast short board tacks, gybe variations, jumps, entering wave environments and developing front and backside wave riding techniques. Plus for those that way inclined, you can learn to forward loop! If conditions or requests dictate we’ll also delve into light and strong wind feasible freestyle like duck gybes, helicopter tacks, up & downwind 360’s. If you want more than just blast and gybe, this course is perfect for you!
Course criteria: Must be able to waterstart and blast on a sub 100L board. (Contact Windwise if you’re unsure of your level)

BOARD CHOICE TRAVEL DETAILS What to take & Travel Tips: In April we’re talking shortie and long leg short arm 3mm summer/spring suit. Surf shoes, harness and obviously sun block are always worth popping in the bag.
Hotel TYPICAL COURSE STRUCTURE Typical Course Level: Freewave What You Get: LOCATION DETAILS Easy launching, with cross and off-shore winds making extremely flat water in the bay. Bump and jump style waves around the corner if that's your bag! The Wind We go at statistically and historically a decent time of year. The south of the Sinai claim greater wind strength and Boards magazine rarely seem to fail at this test venue. It is quite feasible that you will be using a range of sails from 4.0-7.0m. But more often than not you’ll end up on something around a 5m. If your body can handle it, you often get a good six-eight hours of solid wind a day. It’s a dreamy and dynamic short board venue. |

SB on wind stats“As I have said many times, and reads of the BOARDS series ‘Winds of the World’ know, I am not a great believer in wind stats and they are basically a license to print money. However, as I have been to Egypt so often at this time of year, I can only say we’d expect to get decent wind. At very worst you’d get 35-50% wind in a week, highly likely to get at least 50-75%, but could get planing conditions every day. |
